The capital of the Costa del Sol recovers this direct flight with the USA after two inoperable years

The American airline United Airlines has announced that Malaga and New York will once again be linked with a direct flight, three times a week, from Friday, June 2, 2023. The capital of the Costa del Sol recovers this flight after two years without it, good news for attracting tourists and teleworkers to Malaga and the rest of Andalucia. In principle, this direct flight will operate from June to September, but the agents and public administrations involved are confident that they will be able to extend it to more months of the year due to the promotion of the south of Spain in the North American country.

Andalusia's direct connection with US airports is vital to successfully implement Andalusia's strategy of accessing a travelling public with longer stays and spending capacity at the destination. This direct connection between New York and Malaga is a great opportunity for tourism in Andalucia. It is also important for the global mobility of many workers who carry out their professional activity remotely and who, starting in June, will have an easier time choosing the south of Spain as a teleworking destination. Located just 14 miles from Manhattan, Newark Liberty International Airport offers the fastest ground connection to many parts of the city, including AirTrain service to New York Penn Station in midtown Manhattan, with a travel time of less than 30 minutes.

The next objective of the public and private sector in Andalucia and Spain is to incorporate more frequencies, aircraft with greater capacity and extend it to other airports in Andalusia, where Seville is very well positioned. Another challenge for the strategy of improving air connectivity between the South of Spain and the North of America is to establish new connections with other points in the United States and Canada, among which Miami and Houston are already listed as the next objectives.

The new flight adds to United's existing year-round nonstop daily services from Madrid and Barcelona to New York/Newark, seasonal services from Madrid and Barcelona to Washington Dulles and from Tenerife and Palma de Mallorca to New York/ Newark, as well as a new seasonal service from Barcelona to Chicago O'Hare, which will begin on May 26, 2023. United will operate in a total of five cities in Spain and will be the only US airline to operate in Malaga, Tenerife and Palma. from Majorca.

United's new seasonal nonstop service from Malaga to New York/Newark will be operated with Boeing 757-200 aircraft, with a total of 169 seats: 16 flat-bed seats in United Polaris Business Class and 153 in Economy Class, including 45 Economy seats Plus with legroom and more personal space. United Polaris Business Class is a premium travel experience that prioritizes relaxation and comfort, with quality inflight dining, premium Sunday Riley travel kits and full-flat seats.
