Worldwide popularity

Malaga is the second best-rated city in the world to live and work according to the InterNations Expat Insider 2021 survey, in which 12,000 members of this popular digital community that has more than 4 million members worldwide have participated.

In this annual survey, cities are scored based on numerous and varied parameters such as quality of life (includes a healthy environment and a good infrastructure for digital development), ease of settling down (reception of local citizens, language), cost life, employment (stable local economy) and personal issues such as the health system.

The quality of life in Malaga is ranked 15th in the world ranking (well above the global average) according to the survey participants. 33% of those who chose Malaga to live did so for their quality of life. It has also been rated the best in terms of how easy it is to settle down, integrate, make friends and socialize. 69% of the expatriates surveyed express that it is easy for them to adapt to their new environment (the global global average is 48%) and 78% say they are happy with their social life in Malaga. The cost of living, finances and housing also score very well. The result of this survey indicates that 82 of the foreign residents consider that their income is sufficient or surplus to cover the expenses of living in Malaga.

Climate and leisure options

When it comes to climate, Malaga tops the world ranking for its benign weather (it is the capital of the Costa del Sol for a reason) and for its leisure and free time options. 80% of those surveyed who have lived or live there love the climate of Malaga and 86% consider that its leisure and entertainment offers stand out. On the opposite side, the Urban Labor Life Index is Malaga's greatest weakness.

Ahead of Malaga, in first position, has been Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), while behind the Malaga capital are, in this order, Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Sydney (Australia), Singapore, Ho Chi Minh ( Vietnam), Prague (Czech Republic), Mexico City, Basel (Switzerland) and, in tenth place, the capital of Spain, Madrid.

Internations has a community of 4.3 million members in 420 cities around the world. It is a very widespread network among foreign citizens living in other countries to make friends, meet compatriots in their city and share experiences and advice.
