How much money does the coworking business move in Spain? How much does it cost per month to work from a coworking space? Where can you find one?<\/p>\n
Telecommuting and flexible workspaces are redirecting the workplace towards a paradigm more focused on employee well-being. With the introduction of hybrid work models<\/strong>, companies have begun to integrate solutions into their strategies to provide greater flexibility and meet the demands of their workers, who can work permanently in one city or move through different countries.<\/p>\n Currently, organizations are rethinking the uses and distribution of traditional office spaces towards more open schemes, while coworking spaces are experiencing a kind of golden age in Spain. Barcelona and Madrid are the two benchmarks, although there is a group of emerging cities<\/strong> in the sector that are increasingly demanding to live and work remotely. The consequence is the opening of new coworking spaces and the creation of a community associated with entrepreneurship and digital talent in these destinations, three of them Andalusian.<\/p>\n In Andaluc\u00eda there are more than a hundred coworking spaces (see directory of coworking spaces in Andaluc\u00eda<\/a>). The cities of M\u00e1laga, Seville and Granada are among the eleven Spanish destinations with the greatest offer of coworking and at more affordable prices, according to the report Status of Coworking in Spain in 2020-2021<\/a>, carried out by Coworking Spain from a record of 1,483 coworking assets on that web platform.<\/p>\n This document uses data to draw the panorama of the coworking industry in Spain, and the advantages of this model of shared workspaces that adapt to the needs of each worker and company.<\/p>\n In terms of supply, Barcelona <\/strong>continues to be the province with the largest supply of coworking spaces (447), followed by Madrid <\/strong>(349). At a great distance there is a group of 9 provinces that contain the rest of the bulk of coworking that the study analyzes, which are not all those existing in Spain but those that are registered on the aforementioned platform.<\/p>\n In this way, we find that the province of Valencia <\/strong>has 81 coworking spaces (71 of them in Valencia capital), in the province of M\u00e1laga <\/strong>there are 61 (41 of them in the city of M\u00e1laga), Sevilla <\/strong>province has 53 (42 located in the Andalusian capital), Alicante <\/strong>45 (17 in the capital), the Balearic Islands<\/strong> 38 (24 in the capital), A Coru\u00f1a<\/strong> 38 (23 in the capital), Granada <\/strong>23 (21 in the city of Granada), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria<\/strong> 25 (18 in the capital) and Vizcaya <\/strong>27 (17 of them are located in the city of Vizcaya).<\/p>\n The supply facor occupies primary relevance for Barcelona and Madrid, and a secondary relevance nationally for the 9 provinces mentioned.<\/p>\n Regarding the size of Spanish coworking spaces<\/strong>, the average is 534 square meters. The increase in the area allocated to coworking spaces in the last decade in Spain is very significant, going from about 100,000 square meters in 2012 to the current total of 791,000 square meters. (Actually there are more because only those who are registered in Coworking Spain count).<\/p>\n Another striking fact is the value of the coworking business, calculated at 131 million euros per year<\/strong> according to the estimated turnover of the industry in one year, which allows us to speak of a golden age for the coworking industry.<\/p>\n In 2013, fixed positions<\/strong> (desks equipped to work) generated a turnover of 19 million euros compared to 82 million in 2021<\/strong>. As for flexible positions<\/strong>, in 2013 <\/strong>their turnover was 9 million and this figure grew to 49 million euros in 2021<\/strong>. In other words, the value of fixed positions quadrupled in eight years and that of flexible positions multiplied more than fivefold in this same time frame. The year in which the value of the coworking industry in Spain grew the most was 2021<\/strong> (with teleworking being implemented in many companies and the relaxing pandemic measures compared to the previous year), with an increase of 37 million euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n One of the most attractive features of these shared workspaces is their versatility and adaptability to the needs of each worker<\/strong>. You can rent it for hours, days or months, always have the same table or not, have a private office within the coworking, rent just one room for a meeting or a room equipped with the technology to teach courses, workshops or seminars; you can have access to separate areas to make calls or video calls, you can be in contact with the local community and network almost without moving, etc. This adaptability is accompanied by affordable prices, especially if we take into account that the basic services you need to work (electricity, internet connection...) are included in the rates.<\/p>\n According to the report on the State of coworking in Spain, in 2021 the average price of the fixed desk rate per month is 188 euros<\/strong>. Broken down by city, in Madrid it costs on average to rent a fixed desk 214 euros\/month, in Barcelona 200 euros, in Palma de Mallorca 178 euros, in Las Palmas 169 euros, in Valencia 164 euros, in M\u00e1laga 156 euros, in Sevilla 152 and in Granada 138 euros. Therefore, the most competitive average price to work remotely from a coworking space is in Andaluc\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In the case of Spain, market demand skyrocketed as of the summer of 2021, coinciding with the lifting of mobility restrictions imposed by Covid.
